Claxton Bay man crashes into fire truck
A 51-year-old man is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate on allegations of driving under the influence after he crashed into a fire truck.
The incident allegedly took place at about 7.30 pm on Sunday along Christian Drive, Pleasance Park.
According to police reports, the firefighter Mohammed was driving the fire tender in a northerly direction along Christina drive, when upon reaching the Southern Main Road, he attempted to turn left.
It was at this point that the tender came into contact with a white Nissan B15 which was driven by the 51-year-old man, who is from Claxton Bay.
Thankfully, while injuries were sustained by both parties, none were said to be life-threatening.
The police were notified and PC Rajkumarsingh, among others, visited the scene.
The 51-year-old told police that at the time of the accident, he was attempting to overtake a vehicle.
However, while speaking, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on the man’s breath and administered a breathalyser test on him and issued the necessary charge.
