Condolences pour in after death of Tobago doctor

The Tobago Regional Health Authority offered condolences on Monday after Dr Leslie Garbar was found dead at his home on Sunday afternoon.

Dr Garbar was reportedly found dead in his swimming pool on Sunday evening.

Dr Garbar, originally from Nigeria, had permanent residency in Trinidad and Tobago and worked with the TRHA as a District Medical Officer.

The father of three had recently applied for citizenship, according to an anonymous source.

The source added that Dr Garber was well-known and loved by many.

In a statement issued Monday, the TRHA said Dr Garber will be truly missed.

Our hearts are saddened by the passing of yet another member of the TRHA family, Dr Leslie Garbar, one of our DMOs.”

“Dr Garbar worked in the Roxborough District before being assigned to the East Scarborough Windward Road District, where he was stationed up to the time of his death.”

“The TRHA extends deepest condolences to his family, friends and all who mourn his untimely passing,” the TRHA said.

Dr Garbar owned the Hummingbird Heights villa in Scarborough, Tobago.

Many expressed heartfelt condolences on social media.

Wale Fash:

May God Almighty console the wife and family and grant them all the strength to move forward with this sad event. A very affable and good soul has gone way too soon and in his prime. You are and will be dearly missed Leslie."

Liler Forbes:

"Still in total and complete shock....I actually sent him my normal morning broadcast until I remembered that he is never ever going to be online to read them again."

Ruth Smart:

"Mrs Garbar and daughters, may God continue to strengthen and keep you all in this trying times. He shall carry you on His shoulders and take you from strength to strength. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family."

Rachel Crichlow:

"He's a really nice man sigh took very good care of me."

Pamela Walters:

"My heart is broken, Doc was my friend a good friend me and my family will miss him terribly I had a check up with him this evening I can't accept this lord I cried this morning again."

Ali Mande:

"My heart is heavy. I was going to call him last night then I said to my self nah will call tomorrow. A good friend a brother and my advisor. Life is really too short. I'm still in Disbelief this really hit. Lord have mercy on his soul."

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
