Confrontation leads to chopping in Curepe

A 48-year-old man is warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex following a chopping incident yesterday.

The victim told police that around 5:30am he was leaving his home along Evans Street in Curepe, when he was approached by his neighbour with whom he previously had an argument.

The man had a cutlass in hand.

There was a confrontation during which the 48-year-old was chopped several times to his head and left arm.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The victim raised an alarm and was rushed for medical treatment.

He is warded in a serious condition.

The suspect, a 45-year-old man, surrendered to the officers of St Joseph Police Station.

He pointed out the location of the incident to the officers and the weapon used. The cutlass was subsequently retrieved and the suspect arrested.

PC St Clair is continuing inquiries.
