CoP commends NDTF Officers after Chinese robbery suspects held
Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Stephen Williams, has commended the six officers attached to the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) who were instrumental in the capture of five suspects who carried out an armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant in Arouca last Sunday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said in a statement that the officers were praised for their swift, precise, decisive and professional response, which was captured on CCTV.
The footage was officially released by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on social media at 5:30 pm on Monday.
The footage, showing the 'coordinated and precision-like response' of the officers was widely commended by social media users and as of 2:00 pm today, reached 711,757 people, viewed around 314,000 times and attracted an engagement rate of 41,863.
Commissioner Williams notes that the TTPS, with the increasing support of the citizenry, will continue to respond swiftly and with full force to reports of crime and criminality in the country.
The NDTF Area Central is led by 13814 Sgt. Ishmael Pitt; and involved in the capture of the five suspects in the immediate aftermath of the robbery of the Chinese restaurant, at Arouca, on Sunday, were 18222 PC Colin Williams, 19155 PC Antonio Simon, 19663 PC Keelon Davidson, 18872 PC Dwight Coombs, 19529 PC Navin Baboolal, and 19818 PC Kevin Gomez.
The five suspects; a 30-year-old, a 29-year-old, a 28-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 19-year-old, all of Beetham Gardens, are expected to be charged with various offences.
Commissioner Williams has also commended the officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF), who were involved in the largest arms and ammunition haul for the year thus far in Aranguez on Friday January 5.
The exercise was coordinated by Insp. (Ag.) Simeon James, supervised by head of the NEDTF, 13803 Sgt. Simeon Guelmo, and included 17459 PC Anthony Marshall; 18314 WPC Jessica Moore; 19348 PC Anand Dass; 16651 PC Clint Dass; 19452 PC Keston Moonesar and 19655 PC Marlon Hyde.
The Commissioner will formally commend the officers involved in foiling the escape of the robbery suspects for their exemplary display of good policing at a brief ceremony at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, at the St. Joseph Police Station.
