Cops arrest 10, seize three guns, narcotics in police exercise

Police exercises in the Northern Division on Thursday resulted in the arrest of 10 people and the seizure of three firearms, a quantity of ammunition and narcotics.

Around 4.30 pm, a party of officers of the Northern Division executed a search warrant at St John Trace, St John Road, St Augustine on a priority offender.

The officers conducted a search in a bushy area near the house, where they found and seized 121 grams of marijuana.

Around 6.15 pm, the officers then proceeded to Thomas Trace, Arouca where a search was conducted in a bushy area near a makeshift shack.

A black and chrome revolver and two rounds of .38 ammunition were found and seized.

Around 7.15 pm, the officers went to Dickson Street, Arouca where they conducted a search in a bushy area.

Police found and seized 407 grams of marijuana.

Around 8 pm, the party of officers went to the south-western entrance of building 14, Maloney Gardens, D’abadie, where one black and chrome Jericho 941 Israel Military Industry pistol fitted with one magazine and five rounds of 9mm ammunition was found under a staircase.

Around 9.30 pm, the officers went to a house located at Samaroo Village, Arima.

The officers executed a search warrant and found 27 packets containing 575 grams of what appeared to be cocaine and the carcases of several wild meat in the refrigerator.

Around 10.50 pm, the officers proceeded to a basketball court in the same area. There, they found one black Taurus .45 Raging John Magnum Revolver.

The exercise ended in Arima.
The officers went to a known drug den located at Temple Street, Arima, in an area commonly called “The Barracks”.

A search was conducted and seven people were arrested for various offences including possession of cocaine.

Police said a total of 10 people were arrested for various offences during the exercises.
