Cops find marijuana in knapsack near Eddie Hart grounds
A team of officers found a quantity of marijuana in a knapsack near the Eddie Hart grounds on Monday.
During an anti-crime exercise, a party of officers acted on intelligence and proceeded to Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua, near the Eddie Hart Grounds where they conducted a search. They found a multi-coloured knapsack with 6.2 kilogrammes of marijuana inside. The total value of the drugs seized is $72,000.
Earlier that day, the same officers arrested a man and seized a quantity of marijuana during the anti-crime operation conducted in the Bamboo district.
Officers proceeded to Bamboo #3 Boulevard where they stopped and searched a gold Mazda BT-50 pickup truck with a male occupant. The search resulted in officers finding approximately one kilogramme of marijuana in a brown plastic packet inside the vehicle.
The suspect; a 45-year-old man of Rio Claro, was arrested in connection with the find.
The exercise was spearheaded by acting Senior Superintendent Hunte and acting ASP Smith and included officers of the Central Division Special Crime Unit.
