Cops arrest three for illegal firearm, stolen vehicle

Three men are currently in custody after they were held with a loaded firearm and a stolen vehicle.

The three men – two from Malick and one from Blanchisseuse – were held around 3:30 am on Thursday by officers of the North Eastern Division Crime Patrol Unit.

According to police reports, a team of officers including PC Williams and PC Chin received information which led them to the Malick community where they intercepted two vehicles – a Toyota Corolla and a Nissan X-trail.

The vehicles were searched, and the officers allegedly found and seized a loaded 9mm firearm.

A trace was also done on the two vehicles and it was learned that the Corolla was reported stolen at gunpoint from the Port of Spain area on Wednesday.

As a result, all three men were immediately arrested.

They are expected to be questioned, following which, they will be brought before a Port of Spain Magistrate this week.

More on this as it becomes available.
