Cops arrest two for trying to drive into police vehicle

Two men have been arrested after allegedly using a vehicle as a weapon to harm officers of the Northern Division, in Arouca.

The officers were on mobile patrol around 1:10 am on Thursday, when they responded to a report of a Suzuki Grand Vitara being stolen at gunpoint.

The officers were en route to Trincity to provide assistance when they observed the suspects driving the stolen vehicle in a dangerous manner along the Golden Grove Road.

The officers attempted to intercept the vehicle.

But, instead of stopping, the suspects drove directly toward the police vehicle, causing the officers to become fearful for their lives.

In an attempt to stop the suspects, the officers shot at the vehicle which led to the suspects crashing into a drain close to the Golden Grove Prison.

The suspects escaped.

However, around 7:15 am, officers received a tip-off which led them to Bon Air Gardens where they found two men who matched the description of the suspects hiding under a house in the area.

The suspects; a 20-year-old and a 21-year-old, who appeared to have sustained injuries in a crash, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers attached to the Northern Division Task Force, Emergency Response Patrol, Arouca CID and Highway Patrol were involved in the apprehension of the suspects.
