Cops destroy over $5M in marijuana in Biche

Marijuana eradication exercises continued in Biche on Wednesday with the destruction of over $5 million dollars’ worth in marijuana trees and dried marijuana,

Eastern Division officers carried out an eradication exercise in the district, which included officers attached to the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU), Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF) and the Air Support Unit.

During the exercise, the officers went to a forested area off the Biche Main Road, where they discovered five fields containing 5300 fully grown marijuana trees along with 22.5 kilogrammes of dried marijuana.

Both the drug and the trees, which have an estimated value of $5,225,000, were destroyed by officers.

OCIU officers are continuing investigations.
