Cops detain 40 non-nationals at Chaguanas guesthouse
Police have detained 40 non-nationals during a raid at a guesthouse in Central Trinidad.
According to a statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), issued Monday, police said 39 Venezuelans and one Jamaican were held during an anti-crime exercise in Chaguanas between Sunday night and Monday morning.
The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Samuel Seepersad, included officers of the Criminal Investigations Department, Central Division Task Force, the Special Operations Unit, the Canine Branch and Courts and Process Branch, and was conducted between 10:00 pm Sunday and 4:00 am Monday.
During the exercise, officers went to a bar and guesthouse located along Railway Road, where they discovered the foreign nationals who they said were believed to be in the country illegally.
The Immigration Division was contacted and investigations are ongoing.
