Cops find gun in ceiling of man's home

A 46-year-old man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition during an anti-crime exercise in the Central Division on Tuesday.

Officers issued a search warrant at the man's Orange Field Road, Chase Village home. They searched the ceiling and found a Taurus pistol along with one magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was taken to the Couva Police Station and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Hunte, Superintendent Ramesar, ASP Smith, ASP Guevarra and was supervised by acting Sergeant Howard and Sergeant Thompson.

It included PC Marcus, WPC St John, PC Cuffie and other officers from the Special Branch, Central Division Task Force (South), and Couva Criminal Investigations Department.
