Cops find gun in bushy area, arrest 55-year-old for weed in his home

One man was arrested for possession of a quantity of marijuana in an anti-crime exercise in Point Fortin on Wednesday. During the same operation, a firearm and ammunition were found in a bushy area.

Police say officers went to Bryce Road and searched a house where they found 145 grams of marijuana. A 55-year-old occupant of the house was arrested for the find.

Meanwhile, officers acted on information and found a revolver and six rounds of .38 ammunition in a bushy area near Reid Road. 

The anti-crime exercise was co-ordinated by Senior Superintendent Cooper, ASPs Ramphall, Ramdeen and Abbot. It also included Sergeant Ali, PC Boodoo and officers of the Point Fortin Criminal Investigation Department, South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) and Canine Unit.
