Cops find gun near riverbank
Following reports of increased shootings and robberies in the area, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force have “amped up” their efforts in the Malick and La Canoa communities.
This increase in efforts, under the supervision from Snr Sup Sagramsingh and Sgt Guelmo, has netted results, with one of the latest seizures being the discovery of a loaded magazine at a river bank off La Canoa Road, Santa Cruz.
The officers received key intelligence which led them to the river bank, where they observed a pair of grey three-quarter pants lying on the damp earth.
There appeared to be a lump in the abandoned clothing, and as a result, it was examined.
The officers then found and seized magazine for a Glock Pistol loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition inside the article of clothing.
As a result, the items were seized.
No arrests were made in connection with the find, however, LoopTT was told that police would be following certain leads to ensure that there would be arrests in the immediate future.
More on this as it becomes available.
