Cops find weed hidden in beer cans
It appears that criminal elements are becoming more resourceful in finding ways to hide and transport illegal items.
This was the statement made by police sources after a quantity of marijuana was found Wednesday night, hidden in beer cases which were left along the roadway.
The find, LoopTT was told, was made just before midnight along 17th Street, Beetham Gardens, by officers of the Inter Agency Task Force.
The officers were conducting routine patrols in the area between 7 pm and midnight on Wednesday when they received intelligence which led them to the area.
The officers had cause to search beer cases which were on the roadway, and hidden inside the cans, they found the illegal drug.
No one was arrested in connection with this find.
Meanwhile, 30-year-old man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today after he was held with over one kilogramme of marijuana.
This suspect was arrested along Kerr Road, Laventille, around 12.20 am today by officers of the Inter Agency Task Force.
The officers, acting on information received, made their way to the address where they had to cause to search the individual.
On his person, the officers allegedly found 1.2 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana.
As a result of the find, the suspect, who is from Eastern Quarry Road, was immediately arrested.
He was subsequently charged and is expected to be brought before the courts today.
