Police have obtained a court order to keep TT$410,000 in cash which was seized from a Caparo man during a police exercise on Sunday morning.
The cash was seized during a search of a home in the Santa Phillipe, Caparo, community.
Officers went to execute a search warrant for arms and ammunition, however, they found bags of money instead.
A couple who were at home at the time, told police that they had four businesses and the cash was from the proceeds of these enterprises.
However, they could not produce any receipts or proof of the origin of the money.
As a result, the cash was seized, and this week, police obtained a court order under the Proceeds of Crime Act from a Chaguanas magistrate, giving authority to officers to hold the cash as the Financial Intelligence Branch continues investigations.
