Cops grab vendor after cocaine found in vegetables

A Williamsville vendor was expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Wednesday, charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Melisa Pancham, 32, of Kumar Village, Williamsville, was arrested and charged by officers of the Marabella Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in the Gasparillo district on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

During the exercise, Sgt. Keith Ifill, Cpl Narine Bisnath and a party of officers were on patrol along the Guaracara Tabaquite Road, Ben Lomond at 3:30 pm when they had cause to carry out a search of a stall being operated by a vendor.

The search resulted in officers finding 27 grammes of cocaine hidden among the vegetable products.

Pancham was charged by PC Chandranath Matloo, of Marabella Criminal Investigations Departments, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
