Cops hand out 100 tickets in 5 hours for traffic violations

A total of 100 fixed penalty tickets were issued to motorists in the St Joseph District on Friday during a police exercise.

The exercise was coordinated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob and spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Daniel.

It was supervised by Inspector Naim Gyan, Sgt Benjamin, Sgt Dedier, and several other officers from the St Joseph Police Station.

The exercise took place between 2 pm and 7 pm at various locations in the district including along the Priority Bus Route by Mt Hope, the Eastern Main Road and Southern Main Road by Curepe, and by Farm Road, St Joseph.

Tickets were issued to motorists for, among other things, driving without permits, insurance, for driving defective vehicles, and for not wearing seatbelts.
