It seems not even bees are safe from crime.

Santa Flora Police are investigating a unique case of larceny where an estimated $35,000 in bees were stolen.

According to police reports, at about  5:15 pm on Wednesday, they received a report that seven boxes containing bees at Oil Field road, Santa Flora, were missing.

The boxes of honey-making bees were last seen on January 26, 2019, by the 34-year-old man who made the report.

He said he left the property and only returned at about 12.30 pm on Wednesday, where he discovered the items – said to be the property of the Rancho Quemado Estate – missing.

A team of officers led by Cpl Harripersad and PC Gaffar visited the scene.

Enquiries are continuing.
