Cops kill four bandits, arrest two in Barataria
An early-morning robbery in Barataria has left four alleged bandits dead and another two suspects in police custody.
According to police reports, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) on patrol responded to a report of a robbery at a home in Barataria around 1.20 am on Sunday.
The victims told police they attempted to lock themselves in a room after spotting a group of men in their front yard. They were carrying weapons and had their faces covered.
However, the suspects managed to enter the room and relieve the victims of a quantity of cash and other valuables before escaping.
Police intercepted the intruders as they attempted to escape in a white Nissan Almera.
Officers say the suspects began shooting at them, prompting them to return fire.
Four of the suspects were injured in the fracas.
They were taken to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
A fifth suspect managed to escape.
Police managed to detain two suspects, both from Morvant, at the scene.
Investigators have identified two of the deceased as Miguel Cox and Keshorn Cox, both of Chinapoo Village, Morvant. The other two are yet to be identified.
Officers recovered a quantity of the stolen items at the scene.
Investigations are ongoing.
