Cops nab man, stolen car in sting operation

A 26-year-old man is in custody following a sting operation in Debe.

The suspect, from Orion Drive, Debe, was arrested during a police exercise by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad.

The officers had received key information about the whereabouts of a vehicle – said to be a white Honda Accord – which had been stolen at gunpoint in St Joseph last Thursday.

As a result, the officers conducted an operation in which they showed interest to purchase the vehicle.

When the suspect met the officers at the desired location, he was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

The vehicle was recovered.

The officers involved in this exercise were praised by Assistant Commissioner of Police McDonald Jacob for their hard work, and for pursuing all available leads in securing the stolen car.

The 26-year-old is expected to be questioned, following which, he will be charged and brought before the courts.

More on this as it becomes available.
