Cops nab three suspects after Aranguez robbery
Three men are currently in police custody after they allegedly attempted to rob a bar in Aranguez on Tuesday night.
The suspects, said to be from the Laventille and Morvant districts, were held by officers of the Barataria Police Station mere moments after the incident took place.
According to police reports, at about 9:30 pm Tuesday, the proprietor was at the bar, located along the Aranguez Main Road when he got a phone call from someone who requested to speak to him.
The proprietor went to his entrance and was confronted by two men – one of which was armed with a firearm.
The assailants announced a hold-up and proceeded to rob the proprietor of a quantity of cash – said to be an estimated $1,000 – before they made good their escape in a vehicle which was waiting nearby.
The police were notified and they were given a description of the suspects and the vehicle. Within minutes officers of the Barataria Police Station were able to intercept a vehicle which matched the information.
The vehicle, which had three occupants, was searched and the officers allegedly found the firearm and the stolen cash.
As a result, all three men were immediately arrested.
They are expected to be questioned, following which they will be brought before a Port of Spain Magistrate.
