Cops nab three minutes after Valsayn bar robbery
Police officers acted quickly to grab three suspects just minutes after a robbery occurred at a Valsayn bar on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Polic Service (TTPS), three men are arrested by officers of the St. Joseph Crime Patrol Unit, minutes after robbing an employee of Russel’s Bar, at Spring Village, Valsayn, on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a 25-year-old employee was overseeing a roulette machine around 5:30 pm on Tuesday when he was accosted by three men, one armed with a gun.
The men announced a robbery and allegedly took a Samsung J7 cellular phone, valued at $2300, from the victim before leaving.
Officers of the St. Joseph Crime Patrol Unit, led by PC Randall Lezama, PC Collin O’Neil, PC Krishna Ramlochan and a party of officers from St. Joseph CID, including WPC Candice Collins and PC David Williams, who were on patrol in the area at the time, observed the victim signaling to them and stopped to render assistance.
After the officers were informed of what had transpired, they immediately gave chase and subsequently held three men; a 21-year-old of St. James, a 21-year-old of Laventille and a 22-year-old of Morvant, a short distance away.
A search of the area where the men were held resulted in one pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered in some bushes.
