Cops recover stolen vehicle after couple robbed at gunpoint

Barataria police are searching for two men who robbed a couple at gunpoint in Barataria on Monday.

The incident reportedly took place near the couple’s Boundary Road, Aranguez home.

Police were told that two masked men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, approached the two and announced a hold up.

They then proceeded to rob the two of their cash and valuables, including jewellery, electronic devices and cellular phones, all amounting to an estimated $8,000.

They also relieved the couple of their Nissan Navara, and escaped.

The police were notified and a team of officers from the North Eastern Division, under the supervision of Snr Sup Sagramsingh and Inspector Beard, investigated the matter.

The officers received key intelligence which led them to First Avenue, Mt Lambert around 10 pm on Tuesday.

The vehicle was found, intact, parked along the roadway.

The vehicle was seized and is expected to be examined by crime scene investigators for fingerprints, or any other evidence which may lead to arrests.
