Cops recover stolen vehicle after robbery in Chaguanas

Two people have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a vehicle, which was taken from its owner at gunpoint in Chaguanas on Saturday.

Police reports indicate that around 11:30 pm on Saturday, the victim was in his vehicle in a parking lot located at Old Southern Main Road, Chaguanas, when he was approached by two men, one armed with a firearm, and ordered out of the vehicle.

The man was relieved of his wallet, a quantity of cash and his cellular phone, before the suspects made their escape in his vehicle.

The bandits were later seen fleeing the victim’s vehicle and boarding a blue Toyota Corolla along Bhagaloo Street, Enterprise.

Police recovered the abandoned stolen vehicle and an all-points bulletin was transmitted via the E999 Command Centre, leading to the robbers’ getaway vehicle being intercepted along Rodney Road, Endeavour by officers of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black and silver pistol hidden in the centre console of the vehicle.

Two of the occupants of the said vehicle were arrested and taken into custody to await charges.
