Cops seize crocus bags of marijuana in Palo Seco

A police exercise in the Palo Seco district on Wednesday led to the seizure of a quantity of marijuana worth an estimated $112,000.

Officers of the South Western Division Task Force carried out the exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Neville Adams and Supt. Deonarine Basdeo, between 2 am and 4 pm on Wednesday.

Officers were patrolling an area near Beach Road, Palo Seco, when they observed a man getting off a pirogue carrying two crocus bags.

When the lawmen approached the suspect, he dropped the bags and ran back to the vessel and sped off.

The officers retrieved the bags which contained 18 packets containing 11.273 kilogrammes of marijuana.

The drug has an estimated street value of $112,730.
