Cops seize firearm, arrest five in San Fernando

Five people were arrested during an anti-crime exercise at Embacadere and Bronx, San Fernando.

According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the exercise which took place on Monday between the hours of 4 am and 8 am, saw several premises belonging to individuals known to the police being searched.

Four of the arrests were as a result of outstanding warrants and the fifth arrest was for possession of one Glock19 firearm, one magazine and fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Eleven rounds 9mm ammunition and 357 grams of marijuana were also seized in an unoccupied open area during the exercise.

The exercise was supervised by ASP Ali Mohammed, ASP John and coordinated by ACP Hodge Griffith, Snr. Supt. Mohammed
and Supt. Nobbie.

It included personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), various stations within the Southern Division as well as the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF), the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), K-9 officers and municipal police.
