Cops seize marijuana, cocaine and firearm; four arrested

Police apprehended four people and seized over 700 grams of marijuana and 37 grams of cocaine in the northeastern division on Wednesday.

Between 3:30 pm and 9 pm on Wednesday, a team of officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force and Canine branch proceeded to Plover Road, Morvant, where they executed a search warrant. A quantity of marijuana was seized and one person was arrested and charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking within 500 metres of a school.

The officers also went to Laventille Extension Road, Morvant, where, acting on information received, another search warrant was executed, resulting in the discovery of a quantity of marijuana and cocaine. Officers arrested and charged two persons for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking within 500 metres of a school.

Officers searched the roadway and bushes along Almond Drive, Morvant, where they found and seized a quantity of high-grade marijuana. In a bin on Lady Young Avenue, Morvant, officers found and seized a silver and black Jennings .380 pistol and magazine.

One last man was apprehended on Nanan Street, Aranguez, when the team of police officers intercepted a man who fled upon seeing them. Upon searching him, they found a quantity of marijuana.

Total weight of marijuana seized was 741 grams and the total weight of cocaine seized was 37 grams.
