Cops thwart supermarket robbery in Sangre Grande

Three men are in police custody after they were caught ‘red-handed’ after robbing a supermarket in Sangre Grande last night.

The incident took place around 7 pm at Darmarie Hill, Sangre Grande.

Police received a report of a robbery in progress, and officers from the Eastern Division’s Special Operations Unit, led by Cpl Ramnarine, responded.

Within minutes the officers were on the scene, aided by officers from the Eastern Division Task Force and the Sangre Grande police station.

The officers were able to intercept the suspects, who are all from the Diego Martin area, and recover the stolen items.

Further inquiries were conducted and two others, including a woman from Damarie Hill, as well as a man from St Margaret’s Village, were detained and are being questioned in connection with the robbery.

The five, police said are also wanted in the Port of Spain, Northern Division, and Southern Divisions, for reports of similar natures.
