Longdenville/Talparo Councillor Ryan Rampersad is calling for aid as Todd's Station Road, Talparo, continues to crumble.
In a statement issued Sunday, Rampersad said routine maintenance has not been done over the last few years and what initially started off as small potholes have progressively gotten worse, becoming craters in the middle of the roadway.
He said another major concern is a massive landslide between L.P. 96 and 98 in the vicinity of Sonalal Road.
This section of road started shifting aggressively late 2015 and Councillor Rampersad got PURE to conduct the necessary soil tests and subsequent design to the required retaining wall, he said.
However, a recent conversation with Director of PURE, Hayden Phillip revealed that he was awaiting instructions from the Ministry of Works and Transport to send out the project for tenders.
"A number of houses have been destroyed by this dangerous landslip and a couple of others are in danger of suffering the same fate," he said.
Rampersad said he is calling on Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, to treat this issue with the urgency it deserves or run the risk of the entire village being cut off very soon as the land is shifting quickly.
