Couva couple held with firearm

A Couva couple is in police custody after a loaded firearm and an estimated 500 grammes of marijuana, were found and seized at their home. 

The find was made at about 6am yesterday during a police operation by officers of the Northern Division. 

The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt Ramkhalawan and Insp. Pitt, and supervised by Sgt Pamphille. 

Around 5:40am, the officers executed a search warrant at a home in Indian Trail, Couva, in the presence of a 44-year-old electrician and a 29-year-old woman. 

During the search of the premises, the officers found and seized one Beretta PX-4 Strom pistol, loaded with two rounds of 9mm ammunition. They also found and seized 465 grammes of marijuana. 

They were both arrested.
