Couva road works force temporary road closure
Members of the public are advised that there will be the temporary closure of Camden Road, Couva, to facilitate construction works conducted on the approach roads to the new Bridge B1/1 from Wednesday, June 28, to Tuesday, July 4.
The National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) in partnership with the Ministry of Works and Transport issued a statement on Tuesday, informing motorists, residents and pedestrians of the roadworks.
The statement noted that the temporary closure is in keeping with the interest of public safety. Camden Road will therefore be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic over the period while the approach roads are being constructed.
The public is advised to use the following detour routes:
- Traffic exiting the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway using the Preysal/Balmain Overpass and heading west along the Couva Main Road can turn left onto Milton Road to get to Rivulet Road.
- Traffic exiting the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway using Preysal/Balmain Overpass and heading west along the Rivulet Road can turn right at the traffic signals at Milton Road junction, and onto Milton Road to get to the Couva Main Road.
- Traffic heading east from Couva can continue along the Couva Main Road and turn right onto Milton Road to get to Rivulet Road
- Traffic heading east along the Rivulet Road from the Point Lisas Roundabout can continue to the traffic signals at Milton Road, turn left onto Milton Road to get to the Couva Main Road
The public is also advised to observe the temporary signage provided on the approaches to the Site. NIDCO stated that all precautions are being taken by the company and its contractors to guarantee proper Health, Safety and Environmental Standards are maintained.
