Couva shooting leaves man hospitalised
A 35-year-old man is warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, following a shooting Monday morning.
The victim was shot while near his home along Lodge Road, Couva.
Several explosions were heard, following which the victim felt burning sensations to his left leg.
The police and emergency health services were notified and the wounded man was rushed for medical treatment.
His injury was reportedly serious, but not life threatening.
However, he is still warded at the hospital.
Police believe that due to the proximity and the timing of the incident, this shooting could potentially be linked to the murder of 17-year-old Kevon Paul, which took place some six hours earlier.
Paul, of Rose Hill, Couva, was fatally shot on Sunday night while standing outside his girlfriend’s home along Lodge Road.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
