COVID-19: 2869 unique tests completed, cases peak at 117

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has disclosed that 2,869 unique samples have been tested for COVID-19 to date.

The number of positives remains at 117. One person is at the step-down facility at the Home of Football in Couva. Eight people have died while 108 patients have recovered. 

Since the country recorded its first case of the novel coronavirus on March 12, 3,325 samples have been submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and UWI site for testing. 

With the success of containing the viral respiratory illness, the government has initiated a six-tier plan to reopen the economy and is currently on phase three.
