Update: 143 more samples sent for COVID-19 testing

 The Ministry of Health has submitted 143 more samples to the Caribbean Public Health Agency and UWI site for COVID-19 testing. 

The total number of samples sent to these facilities to be evaluated to date is 5,338. 

Thus far, 130 people have been confirmed to have the novel coronavirus. Eight people have died while 115 others have been discharged. 

There are seven active cases.

The Ministry of Health has advised that 5,195 samples have been submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and the University of the West Indies site for COVID-19 testing. 

Of that figure, 4,094 represent unique patient tests, while 1,101 are repeat tests. 

In total, Trinidad and Tobago has fielded 130 positive cases of COVID-19. Of this, 115 cases have recovered, while eight people have died. 

The remaining seven active cases are being treated at the Caura Hospital.
