COVID-19 death toll rises to 103

The Ministry of Health has recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the country's death toll to 103.

According to the Ministry’s 4pm update today, the two most recent patients who died are both elderly males with pre-existing medical conditions.

The Ministry said 54 additional people tested positive for the virus and will be processed at the discretion of the CMOHs.

Currently, there are 1,467 active cases with 1,348 patients in home isolation and 189 patients in state quarantine facilities.

On the recovery side, the Ministry said five people were discharged from public health facilities while 39 people under home isolation have since recovered.

Currently, the Ministry said there are 70 patients at hospital with two in the Intensive Care Unit and 11 in the High Dependency Unit at the Couva Hospital and Multi-training Facility.

There are 12 patients at Caura Hospital and three at the Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort.

Regarding step-down facilities, the Ministry said there are 23 at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility, 11 at the UWI Debe campus and 15 in Tobago.

The total number of samples submitted is now at 31,938, with 5,446 total positive cases recorded.
