Crime Watch cameraman in court for obstruction
Akile Simon, who is employed as a cameraman at television personality Ian Alleyne's “Crime Watch” show, has appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on allegations of obstruction.
Simon, who throughout his career was also attached to three local newspapers in Trinidad and Tobago, was arrested on Sunday night.
His matter was called before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Third Court.
The matter was adjourned and will be recalled next month.
Simon was arrested on Sunday night while covering a police shooting in Upper Terrace, Cocorite, which resulted in the death of 19-year-old Wayne Roy.
Police have claimed that Simon was repeatedly asked to remove himself from the crime scene, however, they alleged that he refused.
As a result, he was arrested and charged.
More on this as it becomes available.
