Cunupia man in court for receiving stolen vehicle
A Cunupia man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate tomorrow on allegations of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The suspect was held on Monday afternoon by officers of the Stolen Vehicle’s Squad, under the supervision of Snr Sup Michael Daniel.
The officers made their way to a “chop-shop” along the Southern Main Road, Cunupia, where they found and seized one green Nissan B13 Motor Vehicle –a vehicle which when traced was reported as stolen from Nadine Cooper during Army Fete on February 23, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
As a result of the find, the 32-year-old suspect was arrested and charged.
The exercise was led by ASP Edwards, and included Inspector Narace, Sgt Dalloway, Cpl Ramcharan, Cpl Khamal, PC Gill, and PC Forgenie, among several others.
At the location, the officers also seized a silver Nissan B14 Motor Car which had a tampered chassis number; along with one Mitsubishi L200 Sportero Engine, and a quantity of L200 auto body parts.
The L200 Engine was traced to be from a white Mitsubishi L200 Sportero, which was stolen on February 23 in the Barataria district the victim being Richard Lowe from Port of Spain.
Also seized was a Hyundai Accent Motor Vehicle Engine – the engine number which had been tampered with – along with several auto body parts from Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Elantra motor vehicles were also found and seized on suspicion of being stolen parts.
