Cunupia man in court for shooting neighbour in neck

A Cunupia man is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate Monday for shooting with intent, after he allegedly shot his neighbour in his neck.

The victim is currently warded in a serious condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

The incident, police said, took place on Thursday afternoon near Jerningham Junction in Cunupia.

Police said the two men were having a conversation which quickly became heated.

According to reports 5:30pm, the man, in full view of several persons, pulled out a firearm from a bag he was carrying and shot the victim.

He then attempted to flee the scene.

Persons who witnessed the incident immediately rushed to the victim’s aid and he was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility, before being transferred to the Medical Complex in Mt Hope.

An operation was launched in the Central Division for the shooter, under the supervisions of Snr Sup Simon, and the suspect was held.

He was questioned and later charged by PC Bacchus.
