Cunupia man held with sub-machine gun

A Cunupia man was due to appear in court on Tuesday, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition after a sub-machine gun was allegedly found at his home.

In a statement, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said that 25-year-old Jarod Khan of Jackman Trace, Cunupia, was arrested by officers of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) after a search warrant was conducted at his home.

The exercise, supervised by Inspector (Ag.) Don Gajhadar and Sgt. Vishal Parasram, both of the SDTF, took place between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Monday May 14, 2018.

Officers searched Khan's home and found one Mac 11 380 sub-machine gun loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of .9mm ammunition hidden in a toilet tank.

Khan was arrested in connection with the find and subsequently charged by PC Dominic Mohammed of the SDTF.
