Cunupia mechanic arrested for possession of stolen vehicles, car parts

One man has been arrested after officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad discovered three stolen vehicles and a number of stolen car parts at his home, earlier this week.

A 32-year-old mechanic of Cunupia was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his garage along Southern Main Road, Cunupia on Monday.

Officers initially went to execute a search warrant for white Nissan Tiida reported as stolen from the Siparia district on January 26.

However, while carrying out the search, they instead found a green Nissan B13, which was reportedly stolen from a female victim while at Army Fete on February 23.

They also found and seized a Mitsubishi L200 Sportero, which was reported as stolen from a male victim along Charlotte Street, Port of Spain, on February 23, along with a quantity of L200 auto body parts.

A silver Nissan B14, with a tampered chassis number and suspected to be stolen was also seized, as well as several car parts from Mitsubishi L200 Sporteros, Kia Elantra and a Hyundai Accent engine with an erased engine number on suspicion of being stolen parts.

Meanwhile, officers also received information that led them to conduct a search of a vacant lot at Ravine Sable Road, Longdenville, where they discovered 1.2 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana.

No arrests were made in connection with the find.
