Curepe man held with loaded gun in speaker box

A police exercise in the St. Joseph district over the weekend has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man from Curepe in connection with the discovery of a loaded Beretta pistol.

Officers of the Northern Division Task Force conducted the exercise around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

The lawmen proceeded to McLean Street, Curepe, where they executed a search warrant at the home of the 28-year-old man.

There, they discovered a Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing six rounds of 9mm ammunition which was hidden in a black speaker box inside a bedroom in the house.

The 28-year-old suspect, who was found inside the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the find.
