Customer gets shot while fleeing supermarket robbery in Princes Town

Two men are nursing gunshot injuries following a robbery in Princes Town on Thursday.

Rishi Gunness, 42, and Bharath Rambarath, 23, were both at Quick-E Supermarket located along Petite Café Road, Princes Town when two men entered the business place and announced a hold-up.

The bandits proceeded to rob the establishment of its day’s earnings estimated at $2,000.They also robbed the two men of their cellular phones and other items.

Police were told that during the robbery, Gunnes became afraid and attempted to flee the scene. One of the assailants, who was armed with a firearm, shot at the two men. Gunnes received injuries to the right arm while Rambarath received injuries to his buttocks.

Both suspects escaped on foot while the wounded men were rushed to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.

A team of officers led by Sgt Richardson, Sgt Ramroop, and PC Ramkissoon visited the scene.

Sgt Ramroop is continuing inquiries.
