Cutlass-wielding man damages officer's car
Thinking that he was about to get a ticket, one man decided to take matters into his own hands and used a cutlass to cause damage to a police officer’s vehicle with a cutlass.
According to police reports, a 28-year-old Police Constable attached to the Ste Madeleine Police Station was at a bar along the Naparima Mayaro Road, when he had a confrontation with a man known to him.
The assailant, investigators were told, accused the police constable of wanting to issue him a ticket.
Without warning the assailant made his way to the car park near the bar and retrieved a cutlass, and then walked up to the victim’s Hyundai Elantra.
The assailant then swung the cutlass repeatedly, striking the rear fender and causing serious damage.
He then fled the scene on foot.
The victim notified other officers and a party of lawmen from the Southern Division Rapid Response Unit and the Southern Division Task Force responded.
A search was conducted for the assailant however, he was not located.
Inquiries are continuing.
