Cutlass wielding teen injures police officer

Another police officer has been injured on the job.

This time the incident took place at Spur Trace, Penal, on Thursday afternoon.

According to police reports, around 6 pm on Thursday, PC Beetan was at the Recreation Grounds along Spur Trace, when he saw an 18-year-old student brandishing a cutlass.

The officer attempted to intervene and was injured on his arm and leg.

Eventually, the suspect, from Ramjohn Trace, Penal, was detained.

The constable notified his seniors and a team of officers led by Sgt Gosein responded.

The teenager was detained on inquiries for possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

On Thursday, WPC Bahadoorsingh suffered injuries to her hands while attempting to part a fight between three males.
