Dead babies found in Forres Park landfill
Police rushed to the scene at the Forres Park Landfill in Claxton Bay where the bodies of two babies were discovered on Wednesday morning.
Up to 10:00 am Wednesday, officials from the Couva CID and the Homicide Bureau were said to be still at the scene.
While information is still coming in, sources said that at about 7:00 am on Wednesday morning, officers received a report that the bodies of two infant children were discovered in a cardboard box.
The police were notified and on their arrival, they discovered the two tiny bodies, which were in an advanced state of decomposition but were thought to be twins.
Police said that they were waiting for an autopsy to be performed before making any determinations as to whether the children were stillborn or died after birth, however, they believe that the children had been delivered prior to their deaths.
Officials are currently awaiting the arrival of a district medical officer.
More on this as it becomes available.
