As the election race continues to heat up, a threat has been made against the life of the leader of a major political party.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith made the revelation at the weekly police media briefing on Monday.

He indicated that the threat was made via a telephone call.

Griffith said; “We have a recent situation where one major political leader, there has just been a death threat on that individual and it shows the situation of where we live and how we live.”

“It was a call that was made where an individual stated that he intends to kill that political leader to ensure that political leader would not be Prime Minister after August the 10th election.”

Commissioner Griffith did not identify who the threat was directed towards.

The Top Cop confirmed that the matter is engaging the attention of the police.
