Debe couple robbed in home invasion
Police are investigating a home invasion in Debe where a couple was robbed at gunpoint by two armed men.
The incident reportedly took place around 1.30 am on Tuesday.
The couple – a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man – were in bed sleeping when two men stormed the premises.
One man, armed with a firearm, pointed the weapon at the couple and ordered them to lie down face down on their bed.
Both men then ransacked the victims’ bedroom, and proceeded to rob them of a quantity of jewellery, as well as a quantity of cash including TT$1,500 and US$300.
The suspects then escaped on foot.
The police were notified and a party of officers led by PC Rawlins and WPC Bhikham, visited the scene.
Entry to the home, police said, was gained by breaking the lock on the front gate and forcing open the front door on the western side of the premises.
Police were given this description of the two suspects:
1 – A man of African descent, 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium built, clad in a black t-shirt, blue jeans and wearing a black cap on his head.
2 – A man of East Indian descent, 5 feet 6 inches tall, slim built clad in a multi coloured stripe t-shirt, cream pants and a fisherman’s hat on his head.
Anyone with information which can lead to the arrests of the suspects are asked to contact either the nearest police station, or give the information anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man, who was wanted for the alleged sexual assault of his neighbour, has been arrested.
After being on the run since Sunday morning when the incident took place, the suspect, from Longdenville, was arrested at his home on Tuesday night.
He is said to be aiding police with their inquiries.
