Shimron Hetmyer did not face a ball as his Delhi Capitals eased past the Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs in Match 7 of the 2020 Indian Premier League.

The West Indies international was down to come in a number six for the Capitals, but Prithvi Shaw (64) and Shikhar Dhawan (35) set the tone with an opening stand of 94.

Rishabh Pant (37 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (26) then pushed Delhi to 175/3 in their 20 overs.

Chennai, still without the injured Dwayne Bravo, crawled to 113/5, when top-scorer Faf du Plessis was dismissed for 43 to effectively kill off their chances of winning the match.

The South African pairing of Kagiso Rabada (3/26) and Anrich Nortje (2/21) ensured the Super Kings were unable to build momentum in the match.

Summarized scores: Delhi Capitals 175 for 3 (Shaw 64, Pant 37*, Dhawan 35, Chawla 2-33) beat Chennai Super Kings 131 for 7 (du Plessis 43, Rabada 3-26, Nortje 2-21) by 44 runs
