Deyalsingh views coronavirus screening equipment at Piarco

Government agencies are ensuring that measures are put in place to reduce Trinidad and Tobago’s risk of the now deadly coronavirus entering the country.

Yesterday, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh visited the Piarco International Airport where he got a firsthand look at Thermal Screening Equipment.

The equipment reads body temperature and will alert operators when someone with an above average or feverish temperature has been screened.

Fever is one of the main symptoms of coronavirus.

Passengers with above average temperatures will be assessed to determine whether they have other corroborating symptoms of the virus.

Particular attention will be placed on passengers who have recently traveled to regions that have reported the virus’ presence.

The Ministry has also placed screening equipment at other major entry points into T&T such as the seaports in Port of Spain and Cedros.

Caribbean Airlines and the Ministry of Tourism have also put mechanisms in place to raise awareness about the coronavirus as it continues to cause havoc in China and other regions.
