Digicel BVI sites offline to ensure fast recovery after Maria
Created : 19 September 2017
Communications leader Digicel advised customers, ahead of the passage of Hurricane Maria in the British Virgin Islands, that all its BVI sites would be going offline at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 19, with the exception of sites in Road Town.
"This will ensure a fast recovery after the storm. Please take this time to prepare and stay safe," the company said.
Against that background, Digicel noted that a number of areas in the BVI would remain connected. Those areas are Baughers Bay; Purcell; Prospect Reefe; McNamara; Meyers; Pasea; Free Bottom; Lower Fort Hill; Lower Fish Bay; Long Bush; Georges Hollow; Lower Estate; Huntums Ghut; Steep Hill; Road Reef Marina; and Ridge Road.
The potentially catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Maria is currently lashing the BVI with rain, after leaving a trail of devastation in Dominica and Guadeloupe.
